CERAMIC MARKET 2024

19 & 20 of MAY 2024

An event of historical and cultural importance for the town of Andenne! The Cultural Centre of Andenne announces its International Ceramic Market, which takes place every year on Whitsun weekend.

The next edition will take place on Sunday 19 and Monday 20 May 2024 from 10 am to 6 pm

After Charles Hair in 2022, Jean-François Thierion en 2023, the guest of honour for this edition is the ceramist Terry DAVIES (UK/IT)
He will be giving a workshop and demonstration on Friday 24 May from 10.30am to 4pm. More info in the “Workshops” section.

Our call for applications for the 2024 edition met with great interest from artists.

After reading and analysing the online applications, the jury met at the end of December to make a final selection.

Exhibition :
Recent works by Terry Davies will be on display in the permanent collection of the Espace Muséal d’Andenne (in Le Phare), from 10am to 6pm. Free admission.

” Céram’café” : 10am to 6pm
ArtBol the cooperative of Belgian ceramists, is taking up residence in the EMA at the Phare and offering you the chance to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in bowls created by its members.
In addition, they are organising conferences and meetings on ceramics-related themes.
On the programme
– Sunday 19 from 1pm to 3pm “Tasting Matcha tea in a Chawan stule bowl” by Véronique Bogaert. Admission: €3
– Sunday 19th at 4pm. “Ceramic medium” by Brigitte Arbelot. From prehistoric times to the present day, from one continent to another, in 30 minutes we’ll be taking an immense journey through time and space to glimpse the wealth of possibilities offered by the ceramic medium. ArtBol’s ceramists draw on this rich history to create their utilitarian ceramics, which you will have the pleasure of discovering in Andenne. Free admission.

– Monday 20 at 4pm. “The Mingei spirit today” by Fabienne Withofs. Mingei is a Japanese artistic style that emerged in the 1920s and revalues the beauty of everyday objects. It has artistic, social and spiritual dimensions. What influence has it had on contemporary designers, artists and craftspeople? Free of charge.

“Espace-Terre” on the Esplanade du Phare from 10am to 6pm.
For young and old, free and without registration.

Sunday 19 May: Guided tour of “Art Nouveau and Art Deco”.
As part of the Ceramics Market, the Tourist Office invites you to take part in a guided tour on the theme of Art Deco and Art Nouveau. Andenne was modernised and new streets and districts were created. Between 1880 and 1940, new building styles appeared. Floral beauty, ceramics and interlacing all tell the story of Art Nouveau. The rigour, sobriety, comfort and social status of Art Deco. Discover it as you wander through the city.

Monday 20 May: Guided tour “Outdoor ceramic elements
As part of the Marché de la Céramique, the Tourist Office invites you to take part in a guided tour of outdoor ceramics. Over the centuries, Andenne has showcased derle and red clay in all its forms. Craftsmen, artists and then industry have set the pace of life here. What remains today, apart from museums? Places to remember and magnificent works of art. Come and admire these places as you stroll through Andenne town centre.

This year, the Atelier des Tropiques is moving from Brussels to Andenne to show you the know-how of their trainers and to introduce you to all the possibilities that clay offers.

Ceramic Market 2022

An event of historical and cultural importance for the town of Andenne! The Cultural Centre of Andenne is pleased to announce that the Ceramic Market will now take place every year on Whitsun weekend. It is moving to the Place des Tilleuls (opposite the Town Hall) and the Promenade des Ours to offer a better visibility and to make the logical link to the Phare which houses the new Ceramics Museum.

The next edition will take place on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 June 2022 at the same time as the Ceramic Art Andenne exhibitions.

A historically important event for Andenne, the Ceramics Market is organised every year on Whit Sunday and Monday. This year again, no less than 50 ceramists from Belgium and abroad, who exhibit and sell their most beautiful works.
Come and escape into the diversity that clay offers and support the artists who have been waiting for this moment for months!

AT THE CULTURAL CENTRE

| CULTURE/EDUCATION” PROJECT
As part of a “Culture/education” project, the Cultural Centre is hosting an exhibition by the pupils of the 3rd, 4th and 5th primary years of the Andenne 1 municipal school in Seilles. Supervised by the ceramist Ana-Belèn Montero, the children express their visions of the world through clay creations.

Exhibition visible from 23 June to 31 July 2021 on Wednesdays from 1.30 to 4.30 pm and by appointment.
